Class Act

Minutes – General Meeting

September 29, 2004

Meeting was called to order at 2:34 PM

Present: All officers, Mrs. LaFrance (sort of), a plethora of Class Act members who wished to lose their faces.

Old Business: Make new business, but keep the old. One is silver and the other’s gold.

--The parents meeting of September 27, 2004 (date was changed due to scheduling conflicts) went well. Another meeting has been scheduled for October 18, 2004. Same Bat time, same Bat channel (room 315 at 7:00 PM)

--Keep checking the call board and the website for changes in Harvey rehearsal schedule and other important notices.

--The idea of a Halloween dance was again briefly discussed. Perhaps for middle-schoolers?

New Business: Shiny!

--Building trades has agreed to build several things for Class Act. The total cost of materials will be $563. It was approved.

Dates to Remember: Post-Its are your friends.

--October 2nd: Field trip to the American Repertory Theater in Cambridge to see Marcel Marceau, the world-famous, and really old (like older than dirt old), mime. All students attending the show must meet in the Alvirne parking lot by 6:15 on Saturday evening. We are leaving at 6:30 sharp – with or without you! If you have not yet turned in your money or permission slip to Mrs. LaFrance, please do so ASAP.

--October 18th: Parent/volunteer meeting version 2.0. Bug your parents to be there, because we’ll be bugging them too. Flyers will be sent home, phone calls will be made, and subliminal messages will be inserted into television and movies. You get the idea.

--October 29th: Drama Days at Keene State College. See Mrs. LaFrance for details; permission slips will be available soon. Cost is $12 per student for a day of theatery goodness.

After general announcements were made, Neutral Mask was played and fun was had by all. Check the call board and the website for next month’s general meeting theme.

Class Act

Minutes – Officers Meeting

August 31, 2004

Meeting was called to order at 3:03 PM

Present: All officers, Mrs. LaFrance, Mrs. Estrada, and Beth Walsh.

Absent: No one! Yay!! Have a party!

Secretary’s Report: None to speak of. Shame shame, Madame Secretary.

Old Business: There’s no business like old business.

--Officers duties were again discussed. President and VP took on the roles of publicity agents for the club. Treasurer maintains the club budget with the aid of the board and the advisor. Secretary maintains minutes for meetings and Class Act files, as well as possibly the website.

--The website may also be a joint effort between the officers OR we may elect someone outside of the officers to maintain it – preferably someone with technical know-how.

--Sub-sale: Still no word as to whether Bill Cahill will be helping us or not.

Upcoming Production News:

--Harvey auditions and callbacks are set for September 13/14 in room 315 at 2:30. Emily called both Precious Moments and Advanced Video Productions to obtain an estimate as to how much money Class Act would have to spend to get a performance of Harvey taped. AVP quoted about $430 for professional-level recording, plus five videos or three DVDs, and $5 for each additional DVD ($3 for each additional video). Precious Moments offered free taping if he’d be at the show anyway, and $5 per DVD copy of the show.

--The dramaturge will be the history police for the show to make sure everything is fitting for the period.

--Beth’s mom offered to paint the oil portrait of Elwood and Harvey needed for the show.

--Bang Bang, You’re Dead was approved by the powers that be! Much celebration and jubilation was had. It will most likely be performed for the school, free of charge (as an assembly?) during Tolerance and Diversity week.

--Still nothing for festival. Suggestions are always appreciated.

--Pushing from the administration for student-directed one acts in the spring. Possibly a performance of a student-direct and written full-length drama (yay Stephanie).

New Business: It’s all shiny and new.

--The possibility of establishing a scholarship fund for Class Act students was briefly discussed.

Class Act

Minutes – Officers Meeting

August 11, 2004

Meeting was called to order at 1:16 PM.

Present: Stephanie Long (President), Shaunalynn Duffy (Treasurer), Emily Coffill (Secretary), Mrs. LaFrance (Advisor), Mrs. Estrada (Savior), Beth Walsh (Stage Managing Goddess)

Absent (what a shirty dame!): Colin Malette (Vice-President)

Treasurer’s Report: Shaunalynn and Mrs. LaFrance are planning to meet at a later time to discuss budget issues.

Secretary’s Report/Officers Duties: The duties of the secretary were discussed. It was decided that the secretary and the treasurer would share the momentous task of organizing the Class Act archives. Much celebration will happen when they finally are organized.

Fundraising: Some ideas were discussed.  Some possible ideas were:

--Delivering subs (in costume/character?) on Super Bowl Sunday. Stephanie volunteered to call Bill Cahill’s Super Subs to find out prices and availability.

--A Halloween themed dance was also discussed, possibly for middle-schoolers OR high-schoolers.

--The possibility of a table at Old Home Days (face painting?) was brought up but rejected due to time restrictions.

Friends of Drama/Class Act Guild: Everyone needs friends, especially friends to volunteer to do helpful things. The Class Act Guild (decided against “Friends of Drama” because we didn’t want to rip off the band’s idea) will consist of parents, alumni, and other members of the Hudson community who want to help the cute little drama kids with whatever we need help with. Tentative date for an informational meeting was set for Friday, September 24, 2004. Emily will make flyers to send home to parents and mail to alumni and post on every post-on-able surface in the town of Hudson. It will be mayhem.

Other business: Everything else and a big invisible white bunny rabbit.

--A second trip to NYC was discussed; choices of shows include Phantom, Hairspray, and The Lion King.

--Emily will call Precious Moments video-taping and several other videographers in the area to find the best price and business to film a performance of Harvey.

--Improv project planned for spring if we have time.

--Bang Bang, You’re Dead as a traveling show to other high schools. Most likely not for festival as we can’t perform it for profit.

Dates to Remember: Even if you have to staple them to your forehead.

--September 13/14: Harvey auditions and callbacks. Please have a one minute comedic monologue.

--August 13: Improv show at the Acting loft in Manchester, 8:00 PM. Should be a good time.

Meeting was adjourned at 5:05 PM

All Hail the Emily, she is Secretary Goddess.
